Hey fellas(and ladies),
Simple question.Other than the 1 shot reducer what can be used to thin the paint before striping?
The nearest place for me to get the reducer aint so close and I have a side job for tomorrow morning. What thinner would be most compatable with lettering enamel?
Thanx in advance..Bugsy

Use penetrol. You can get it at most hardware stores, or someplace like wal mart. Forget the 1 shot thinner, for me, it thins it to much even with just a little, and makes the paint transparent. The penetrol keeps the opacity of the paint, and also thins it well enough to stripe. Experiment with how much you need, but you shouldnt need more than a couple drops, depending on how much you pallet at a time.

Thanx for the tip Nate,
What is the primary use for penetrol and what section of the hardware store should it be in ,paint depart.? Does it cost about the same?
Thanx again,Bugsy..

Yep, its in the a paint section, and shouldnt be more than 10 bucks for a quart. Traditionally its used in place of thinner with house paints to promote better flow and coverage (2 key areas in pinstriping). When you use thinner it evaporates from the paint, but the penetrol does not, helping the paint stay glossy and uniform in opacity. Good luck, Nate
