I'm doing my first flame job on my golf cart(not for golf)with PPG primer, base coat, clear coat. The base color is 2004 Chrysler magnesium pearl and I want silver flames, I have a pattern, and step by step from this site, but not sure whether to use an air brush or a touch up gun for the flames. Any suggestions? I'm going to practice on this before doing my Harley FXDL. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

Airbrush is more for outlining the flames and shadowing. Use a touch up gun to do the whole flame, then come back w/ an airbrush to do some finish work if you desire.

I like the airbrush because you can blow the color in nice while keeping an edge. The touch up gun is nice too if your looking to fill the flame in,if that makes sense,Jim

I was thinking about solid silver flames with a little candy blue around the edges, anyone have any other suggestions, and should I have black pin stripe to outline the flames?

If you plan on painting the flames silver first, and you want to 'aribrush' the flame edges, I would suggest using a basecoat blue color and not a candy blue. Candy tends to bleed and run off of the silver. You can use a candy, but you have to be carefull when clearing.

If you are talking about outlining the flames (as in pinstriped) with a blue, I would suggest a basic blue basecoat, and not candy.
