2nd Bike

Lets forget the 1st.... didn't like what the guy wanted. And Bones, this is the one that I painted using a HP-C. Anyways, this is the bike that had the bad paint.... remeber. New paint did wonders and I know the I am no Picaso but, I am ok with it and it does have flames. I am gonna kandy over the whole thing after the next coat of clear. HOK cobalt kandy blue is a bleeder. It bled to the top of the first clearing and that was 4 heavy coats. It ruined my test panel while trying to kandy directly over the artwork. I was wondering if anyone has tried mixing HOK kandy base with the intercoat clear to cut it down. Perhaps this would give me more room to get to the color value that I want.

Appreciate any tip or suggestions

Maybe no Picasso, but he painted like a 5 year old, anyway. (By his own admission.) I think you have captured the light as Titian would have, but use the composition of Goya or perhaps even Calder. ;-)

Finally got a chance to use my art history degree for something!

Seriously, nice job. I've been trying to do skulls for a while, but only manage to paint like, like...well, like a 5 year old! Someday I'll get it down right and maybe pull something off as good as yours.

PS Can't help you with your paint question...sorry.

Dave - See, I would have layed and cut that out and shot it in with a detail gun then come back with the airbrush because to me a job like that is kinda like a grafix job but also has elements of free hand mural - But thats me - Looks damn good though ---

I've used the cobalt blue candy on 3 different jobs and never had a problem with bleeding, I wonder if it might have been some chemical thing, like wrong reducer or hardner or maybe just a bad can of either -- I've tried the sg100 with candy and it didn't work for me - kinda made blue swirls in the sg100 - smelled good though!!
I personally would clear it and let it go - It'll stand out better - more contrast!!!

I've tried to thin out Kandy base and didn't have any luck. It just turned into a what I can only describe as a thinned out metalic color. Have you tried the bleed check system from HoK? That is supposed to stop any of the colors from bleeding like cobalt blue, hot pink, .... They have a whole list of possiable bleeder colors. Of corse try it on a test pannel first. By the way nice job!

Good Gawd dood!!

That's freakin' awesome!!

I'm just trying to keep the bugs out of my clear.... At this point I can only aspire to doing something like that.

Very, very cool.

That tank is the bomb! Good Job!

I think those other painters would have painted skulls and sh*t back then if they'd have thought they were cool. Dang stick in the mud bores didn't even have scooters back then. They should have been inventin' bikes and hotrods to paint instead of wastin' their time with the cistine chapel and such... You know the American indians didn't have no scooters either, but did that stop them from painting their horses??? Nope! But I don't think they put skulls and flames on their horses... Hey I just got an idea for my Doberman... Titan, come here boy... Good dog, now hold still...

Nice job!!!!!

I don't know about kandy base, but Just used some Kandy Koncentrate and it works great with SG100 and have enough KK left over to paint 20 more bikes. But remember....it's darker than you think when you spray with it

Thanks guys!! Geeze Andy.... I had to look up all those people. You know your art!! I have been painting for a year now and have done many paintings on sign blanks. I always seem to loose the light reference point but, whatever. I think there was some famous ancient painter that didn't pay attention to that either.

I think I am just gonna use the kandy base coat over it. Dont have enough KK to add to the sg-100. Bones, I don't know about the bleeding issue except that I talked with a lady, who is one the Las Vegas instuctors with Fraser, and she said she won't use cobalt or burple because it bleeds even through catalyzed clear. HOK Tech sheets say it will bleed but, not through cat clear. Maybe its the type of clear that I am using which is Sherwin Williams HS. Not exactly a high dollar clear but, I have to work hard to make it run so, I kinda like it.

Again, thanks for the support
