Anybody try 3M #6306 1/16 218 tape for flame outlining? I have been using 1/8 blue 3m tape but a cust. wants tight small flames which the 1/8 blue won't do. The problem with the 218 is it likes to bubble in the turns(rolls up on the inside). 218 seems more like a paper tape instead of a vinyl tape. It also does not show to good under Automask because its tan. I'm also wondering about bleed thru with this stuff too.
Doesn't 3m make a green 1/16 tape? anygood? better than the 218?

...if you don't mind going cross eyed 1/16 is the way to go for trick flame layouts though

Once I started having problems with 3M blue tape "pulling" in the corners, I started using the 1/16 green. Definitely great for tight flame layouts, but you have to mask them up with tape. Like you said, it's too light, to narrow to use the AutoMask type masking paper. I've done my last 10 jobs or so this way.

Be nice if 3M came out with a 1/16" blue tape!!

I am spoiled from using Automask so what I did with the 1/16 was double it up. I taped the outline then went around it again with 1/16 on the tight corners and 1/8 blue on the long runs. If you finger the Automask around the tape you can follow the outline pretty good when cutting. 218 is tan so it is alittle tuff but easier than taping with green masking. The blue of course shows thru perfect.
