5 Star ClearCoat

I went to the Jobber the other day for some clearcoat,DuPont 7600 was $180 a gallon with activator so,I tried a clear made by 5 star,it's called extreme but,I can't think of the number off hand.$96 for a gallon and activator. So far,It sprays nicer, and under the lights,I can wet sand the dust(hardly no peel with slow reducer)out in three hrs.I even buffed with swirl mark remover,no diamond cut,I really like it,I was just wondering if anyone knows how it stands up in the long run,Jim

Hey Jim.I've heard of the stuff but really don't know anyone that's used it.I would suspect it's probably pretty decent though. The only problem with the generic clears is you have to give them time to see how they hold up.

A little off topic but still related to 5star product. I only used the primer. That was yrs ago and I liked it. Got hard to purchase after my PPG jobber went platinum. PPG limited him to sale only Laquer primer in the 5star line.

Hey Jim, if you remember what the number is please let me know I am looking for a cheaper clear that looks and sprays good. would love to find something around $100 a gallon, I tried looking up 5 star but they have quite few all ranging in price depending where you buy it from. ppg 2021 just too much on all jobs I need to get some pricing down
