A little spot paint help, please.

I just painted my T bucket, two stage Deltron and Concept clear. I added a stripe, did a poor job of masking and clear-coated all of it, thinking I would fix it later. Well, 'later' showed up. I have a few spots where the second color got past my masking. I have started to sand those areas and got some PPG SXA840 blender; never used the stuff before ( I am not an experienced painter, obviously).
So. The data sheet explains how to use the blender, but I've seen comments on line that the edges will lift in a couple of years. Yes? And does the blender just get applied to the color, or to the clear, too?
Second, I don't want to repaint the whole car, although I have several spots to repair, so will I have to scuff up all the existing clear coat before clearing it? I have enough work to do that it's almost a toss-up as to doing a whole overall, but the cost is killing me.
Thanks in advance for your interest and help.

To blend an area, I would suggest sanding the complete area you are going to blend along with an area outside of this area.
Then you will need to spot in your areas. No need for the blending reducer yet. Just a normal base blend. Once you do this, I normally over-reduce the clear about an extra 20% or so. Put a couple coats on the area that you blended. Gradually get the area slightly bigger and bigger. Once you feel you have a nice blend, you can do a final blend immediately with the blending reducer. Just 'work the edges' so it's a nice gradual blend.
You will still see your blend though, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Give it a couple days. Then lightly sand the area that had the 2 coats on it. You can use 1500 or 2000. Then you will need to work the complete area in with a buffer. The trick here is to work the blend in with the buffer without burning the edge.

Not a big fan of blending clear . It seems to always come back to bite you in the ask . I always clear the complete panel . How much $$$$ are you really saving blending vs clearing the panel . After time , you will be glad you cleared the panel .:bigokay:
