Adhesion promoter

I recently finished flaming some motorcycle parts, but before I could clear it I had to stop working on it. It is now about 2 weeks later and I would like to know if adhesion promoter will change the shade of the flame color. They are white to yellow to orange to red tips on a black base. I am using a Chroma Base system. Are there any hints or tricks to using the stuff. I see in past posts it is recomended to use HOK adhesion promoter. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have gotten away from the Dupont series, especially the Chroma Series mainly because of the price, but maybe I can help ya.

What you need to use is Dupont's #222-S Adhesion Promoter. I believe it is. I've used it a lot with success. The only thing that I'm unsure about is the stuff has a very slight yellowish color and I'm not sure if it will tint the white though. I'm trying to recall the times I used it over any white and I don't recall it altering any of the colors. You just have to lay it on thin, so I doubt there's enough there to alter anything. To be safe and if you have any left over paint, try it out on some junk metal laying around.

I've heard a ton of agruments that you have to spray whatever your gonna spray over the adhesion promoter while it's still wet & that is doesn't matter as long as you spray with in the same day you laid down the adhesion promoter. I think it's real difficult to run to your other spray gun and start spraying before the adhesion prom. dries. It's dries in seconds.

I used the 222 years ago and seemed to work the best but it's still something I never trusted.Ideally you should lightly scuff it with a grey scuffy but if you didn't intercoat clear it it can ruin your blends. When I used the 222 I waited until it flashed off and started putting stuff on it.

Yeah, I like to get my work covered in some intercoat clear, or clear as soon as possible. You never know what's going to come up and keep you from working on your projects the following day(s), so it's good to have that coat down that you can scuff up and work on!

Thanks again.. my plan was to base coat, flame and clear all within the 24hr limit, but that didnt work out.
