Adhesion Promoters

A followup question about adhesiom promoters. I wrote the topic "ANY MISTAKES IN MY PROCESS?? " I am worried about letting the first clear coat set for 2 days, color sanding, then doing flame work. Do I need to use some kink of adhesion promoter to get the clears to bite into each other?? Also I was letting the first clear to set for 2 days before taping flames etc. because I heard you can heve a problem with removing the tape and taking some of the finish with it. Is this the correct way to proceed? Thanks in advance.

As long as you're wetsanding before the next coat, you can let the clear sit for a week or two (or even more if need be). I've gone as long as 2 weeks between shoots with no problems at all. No adhesion promoter required for this. The only time you should use the AP is when your painting chrome or some other smooth surface that you aren't going to (or can't) sand. I've used it on a few Harley parts and it worked fine. But I learned that if there is any way to sand and prime rather than using the AP you should sand and prime then paint.
