hi there
im planning to do a job on my bike .the bike is only 7 months old,, but bored with the factory colours
so im planning a kandy paint job
all products are h.o.k
zenith gold base (bc12)
airbrush flame outline with black (bc 25??)
do flake over flames with mini rich gold (f64)
then brandywine candy over all

my questions are:

1 does this sound ok so far

2 do i have to prime or can i just seal (i plan on not breaking through to bare metal)

3 if so then which primer do i use
(kp-2cf or kp-21)

4 this ones gonna sound dum but what clear do i use (uc-35 / ufc-35 / uc-1 / ufc-19???)

5 whats the difference on these clears??

i know this is a lot to ask, but once ive found out this info im away with it
many thank to anyone who can help out.

The colors sound ok. You might want t o tone the black down to a charcoal grey so you can get more candy effect out if it. I have used sealer over the top of new paint and it works fine as long as you prep it good. I’ve herd as long as you start your job with a primer or catalyzed base you going in the right direction. If you have any decals you will probably get it down to metal on some spots and then you need primer. If there is a sticker, make sure you get the entire thing off. I wouldn’t paint over it. I’ve only used the KP2CFA and KP2CFB mix and they works fine. I’m also only familiar with the UC35 and UCF35. The UCF “Flow” clear is used mainly for low build surfaces were it is more important for the clear to lay down like glass, less orange peel means less cutting and polishing. The UC35 “build” clear is used when there is an edge to go over like one from a flame or graphic so when you sand it down to smooth it out you won’t go through the graphic. I use the build clear (UC35) because it’s cheaper and you can get near the same effect as the flow if you over reducer. It’s a little more work but you won’t have to order two different clears. I hope this helps
