Most of todays airbrushes are 'solvent safe'...so assuming that your airbrush IS solvent safe, you COULD spray your paint through it...BUT!!! Usually flames are sprayed on a pretty large area...so unless you're flaming a 1/12 scale die-cast car, I'd at least try to find a touch-up automotive paint gun, or even a full-size quart gun. Trying to spray large areas with an airbrush invariably leaves 'streaks'...kind of like trying to paint a car with a spray can. If you are painting the flames in a pearl, metallic, or kandy...you nearly HAVE to have something with a wider spray pattern than your airbrush...and to spray clears on a wide area, airbrushes just wont spray enough volume to lay down a good coat of clear at one time in a large area. The 'cheapo' touc-up guns from places like Lowe's or Homedepot may work all-right for anything but a kandy job..and they're like $24. You can get no-name full-size guns for around $70, or you may be able to borrow one from someone?!??? Dont mean to burst your bubble...just don't want you to have to do it again.
