When you guys are airbrushing graphics or flames on a tank or something, what paints are you using?
Anty tips on the mix? Maybe any other quick tips for me?
I have airbrushed with acrylics, etc on paper but never done anything auto....:ears:

We use either HOK (House of Kolors) or PPG.
If you want something subtle, you can over-reduce the paint and airbrush it on. Otherwise, just mix as instructed.

We just use what we already have in stock. I don't know of anyone that sells it in smaller than pint quantities.
You might want to check your local body shop supplier and see if they can mix up less than a pint of the colors you need. Sometimes they do. Maybe you can order 8 ounces of each.

Hey guy...if you go to HOK's site you can buy almost all their paint in 4 or 8 oz bottles, ready to spray.Perfect way to get lots of paint for little cost...

if you use it quick that might be the way to go, but as you get better at airbrushing you'll have better ways for reduce for maximum sprayage.

fine detail i usually reduce 1:1 w/ slow or medium reducer as an example.

craig frasier says to reduce your house of color stuff w/ med. reduc. 1:1 for airbrush, he also says that the reducer breaks down and the paint doesn't last as long when it's mixed and sitting around.

good luck and experiment w/ different temp. reducers and amounts of each.

HOK, i admit, is exellent paint, real good finishes and selection..... pricey though! especially in the UK!!

Ive found that Auto Air Colors are very very good airbrush paints and they are all waterbased, which makes a change!!

Its all down to personal preferance though.... you need to buy like 4oz bottles to have a blast! :bigokay:

You can order small amounts through Coast Airbrush. Sizes from 2oz, 4oz, 8oz, and up.

They have HOK and Alsa Corp paints.

For the most part if your dealing with and automotive project I would stick to your main automotive urethanes.
