When you do a ghost flame job (like on Scott's candy jobs). How do you keep the insides so neat and even but still get that freehand look?Is it a steady freehand or do you use one of those hand held curves held at a distance?

Jim,
I basically just keep my eye more on the tape than the brush. Follow along the tape with the brush. I also make 2-3 passes passes over the same edges.
I try to keep it as consistant as possible.
I also back over the "ovals" and make them a little wider.

The good thing about ghost flames is when you do get an edge a little heavier than a flame lick right next to it, no big deal. In fact it even gives is a neater appearance because the light will react differently to it (especially with the pearl ghost flames).

Jim,
I usually over-reduce, but only slightly. I was always one to believe, it is better to be over, then under. It gives you more of a "window" of coverage. In other words, a little more forgiving

Thanks!
Scott
