Rookie first timer.
OK, I have all the bike parts off the bike and have the paint ordered from HOK. I have two direction that I'm thinking of and I need you guys and the help of a test panel to give me the final decesion.

The bike has good black paint on it.
Option #1
I would like to rough up the black and spray the whole thing with silver-white marblizer and do the saran wrap thing. Then layout flames and spray them with cobalt blue candy and then clear coat as normal. Question, do I have to do any intermediate clears? Does this sound OK? What pitfalls do you see?
Option #2
Rough up the black, tape the flames and spray the silver-white marble on the flames only. Then cobalt blue candycoat the whole surface.
My question is will the Black areas look purple or very dark blue. I do not like Purple!!! Do you guys see any problems, do I need any intercoat clears? Thanks for your expert help.

Just a suggestion. Any time you lay out graphics, whether with transfer paper, fine line, what ever, over a base coat you can have bleed through. Best options personally... use intercoat clear or simply clear and wet sand ( best option, because if you mess up its easier to correct your problem). Then lay the flames etc.
As for the marble effect, make sure you have some type of adhesion promoter over the work before you clear over it.
Last point and then I'll go.
The kandy can be added to your clear itself or you can mix it with intercoat, and then clear over that. That will be your personal perference. Just remember, the more you clear with the Kandy in the clear, the darker each coat will become.

Like rmt1and1 said, you either need to put an intercoat clear or adhesion promoter over the marblizer, otherwise delamination could happen.
You could also buy clear marblizer and add blue pearl to it, making a blue marblizer, then intercoat it or adhesion promo, then spray candy.
With the blue marblizer you could use less candy and eliminate a nasty flame edge.
It's all an experimental thing, try it and see what you like best.

If applying one coat of regular clear over the base and then proceeding to lay out flames, how much of a window do I have before the other coats of clear have to go on?????

If you're going to use the regular(topcoat) clear use the number of coats the label says.If you're using a 3 coat clear and you only spray one when you sand it to continue it could easily wrinkle. After you clear it let it dry for what the label says and sand it down and continue. The window is more important on base to get something sandable over it and is usually 24hrs.

Ok, so I should spray the marblizer. Spray the Intercoat clear and sand. Then layout the flames, spray the cobalt blue candy and pull the tape off and clear everything. Why do I have to sand the intercoat clear. Is it to smooth it or to get the rest of the clears to stick? It would seem that as long as I spray the flames within the window I wouldn't have to. But you guys are the experts, what you say I'll do. Thanks for all the help.
