Amount of paint required

A buddy of mine would like to paint his 68 Impala back to the original color of Sea Frost Green. Just wondering how much paint and clear would be required? It has the vinal top so we will not need to do the roof area. We will most likely be using PPG DBU for the job.

Thanks

I did my old van (GMC Safari) with 2 qts of DBC or 1 gallon of reduced paint.
So using the DBU line at 1:1/2, buy 2qts paint and a gal of reducer since its cheaper by the gallon.
I also repainted my brothers S-10 and used 2 qts of paint with a little extra.
The clear should be the same, about a gallon reduced.

2 qts of paint should be fine. I would check with the paint supplier and find out how well the paint covers some paints do not cover well and an addl coat or 2 might be needed

That's a big sled even without the roof.2 should do it but I'd get at least a pint extra.Like Cuda said, ask for any notes in the formula about coverage because it will say if extra coats are required.Personally I don't think I could cover that much area with less than 2.5 qts of base @ 2-1 and at least the the same amount of HS clear at 4-1.That hood and the 1/4s are huge, hell those 3 panels are more area than a Dodge Neon!
