If youve seen the stock tank on the H-D sofatil standards you know what Im talking about......the H-D logo thats on the tank...

Mine is black paint with red logo....

Can I get this logo off the tank and shoot flames over the existing black base coat....then clear over the whole thing?

has anyone done this?

Im gonna go with the Kandy red brandywine ghost flame over black, like # 160.

I'd like to us the existing black basecoat if possible, so all I'll need is what? about a QT of the branywine, and some clear.

all im stuck with is how to remove the red h-d logo....is it vinal under clear or what?

and for the fenders that are just black, can i shoot flames right over the black and clear or do I sand down and re-clear them before shooting the flames?

thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Just sand the fenders and flame and clear them.I haven't paid attention to the new bikes but the decals are probably cleared in as usual. All you can do is sand them off and prime and block the area to build it back up,then after the whole tank is sanded blow a little black over the area to recolor it.If you can flame and clear the tank that same day just just let the basecoat black dry about an hour and lay out the flames.I will warn you black varies in color so just spot in the primed area if you aren't going to recolor all the parts.Harley uses PPG paint so their black is your best bet.
