Yeah its another marblizing question . I just spent about and hour reading over all the posts I found while doing a search for 'marblizer' here , wow , lots of info but not quite enough for what I want to do .
I need to get some sort of marblized effect on some bike parts I am painting tomorrow and have no real access to HOK stuff that quick . I am trying to achieve a real dark blue or better yet purple effect . It sounds as though I should use a black base but what should I use as the marblizer , it sounds like I can use over reduced clear base but what do I put in it to give me the effect ?And how much should I over-reduce it ? I am even looking at creating a purple tinted clear for a candy effect after the marblizing , any ideas from all you pro's ? I have a mixing station (Sherwin Williams) with about 20 variaties of dry pearls and mica's . I have been playing with the Saran wrap way a bit today and I think I have the wrong stuff , its Saran wrap classic and its real thick and not fun to work with . I seen in a post that someone used Wal-Mart bags and dabbed them to get the effect , this is what I may try .

if you spray the base, then try and use an over-reduced basecoat homemade marblizer, it will lift and destroy your original basecoat. Ask me how I know /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

I found the only way to get it to work was to spray the basecoat, then clear it with some accelerator in the clear. 36-48 hours later, scotchbrite the clearcoated parts, THEN apply the homemade marblizer. I finally got some HOK marblizer, and once you do, you'll realize how crazy it is to try and make your own, there's just no comparisson in the way that the HOK stuff works! You do need to spray HOK SG-100 intercoat clear over the HOK marblizers, though, BEFORE doing anything else to that area.

O.K, so... we decided not to try making our own anymore and on saturday we ordered the real HOK marblizer . The end result I am looking for is something with deep blue or purple , the person I was talking to thought we should use the lilac/lilac marblizer , anyone here ever used it , what does the end result look like with the black base ? Just curious to know ahead of time .
