I painted a race car recently, Wanted to do a really good job, maybe get into more of them, so I used HOK clear instead of the Nason I normally use. This stuff is not only much harder to spray nice it is also nearly impossible to buff. I ended up wetsanding everything and reclearing with Nason. Now it finally looks good!

I switched over to HOK about two months ago and found that shop temp. vs. reducer is critical to getting a good flow out. As far as buffing goes, I wet sand with 1500 first, then go to 2000, then buff out using the 3 M foam pads. It comes out like glass. One thing I like to do is keep a spray bottle of water and mist it while buffings. It kind of makes a slurry of the compound and breaks it down better.Since switching over to HVLP, I can't shoot anything without getting orange peel to some degree. Might go back to conventional...................Mo

I have tried alot of different clears. The one I found is a 2 to 1 mix, Transtar 7211 with 7226 activator. I love it, lays down easy & easy to buff, can also be laid on thicker then some. I use the Iwata RG-3L gun to sray all my clears.
