hi just found the site looks good ,was wondering if anyone here has used rustoleum and has any tips, problem is i have wetsanded too far on a spot and im having trouble repairing the area and end up needing to respray the whole panel , i tried touching up the area with a few light coats but all that happens is it overlays the existing paint and seems impossible to blend in,so if i try using any rubbing compound or wet sanding it leaves a lip ,
kinda hard to explain, hope someone knows what i mean ,anyone any tips on this ,same goes for runs :crap:

Rustoleum is good for lawn mowers and yard furniture . It contains fish oil , not good for the automotive world .

I have no personal experience on this but have heard of people painting their cars with Rustoleum.
They say the key is thin it about 50% and do lots of coats. So maybe the same thing applies to your burn thru area.
Try laying a lot of really thin coats over it and see if that works? It sounds like that is what you are trying to do though, so if that doesn't work you may have to start over on that section.

By the way, that does look pretty good for Rustoleum.

If you can work it like regular paint, you want to sand a large area (bigger than the area you plan on spraying. I would suggest 1500 grit. Then start spraying the spot itself, gradually getting the spot bigger and bigger. Once you are ready to blend, over reduce the paint, and make the spot even bigger. Then on the final blend, use about 90% reducer, and carefully blend out the edges. Let it dry very good. Then you will have to carefully wetsand and buff. Try to only wetsand the main area, not where you blended. Buff this area, and carefully and slowly buff the edges in. Use a mild polishing compound for the edges.
As you can see it's alot of work, It's almost best in some cases, to just sand the panel, blend the area, then reclear the complete panel.

The above is for automotive paint. I've never sprayed Rustoleum on a car.

its more of an enamel type paint takes hours to go touch dry ,think ill be redoing the entire panel ,i used it because these vans are bad for rusting ,theres another stuff i found called metacote seems to spray better and its also a rust repelant ,its also easier to wet sand and compound to a great shine
this is the metacote stuff, tractor enamel in old jcb yellow, 4 coats then 1200 grit wet sanding then up to 2000 and a rubbing compound turned out not to bad :bigokay:
