Well I am new to this site. In addition, I like this website you have designed and its just the place I need and I will come here more often so I can learn more. I' am 18 years old and I have been doing art most of my life. I’m a senior and in auto body class. This is “awesome”. I originally joined the class so I could put my art on cars.
Nevertheless, not until the end of the year my new teacher that is taking place of my former teacher. Has seen my drawing or "shadowing" I do with color pencils on paper but he wants me to learn airbrush on cars, which I can’t wait to know.
He is transferring me out of my school to go and learn at his school scents mine is still has not been approved is the last 5 years. The class still uses airways and air sanders, grinders, and sticky sand paper not the Velcro ones scents they tend to fall off yet it is one of the biggest auto places on the east peninsula.
The instructor says when I return I will be working hydroplanes and NASCAR racecars. I hope that I get to work on mustang’s and other vehicles.
I would be interested if someone would give me more info on what Kind of airbrushing tools I be using and such.

Glad to hear your going in this direction. I was in similar shoes as you, although I didn't really know what I wanted to do! I gave up on art as a carrer until a few months ago. I do paint work on cars small jobs (spot repairs and blends) for car dealers. It's a good way to make a living but some times I hate it!

My wife enrolled me in an air brush class a few months ago. I painted my first flames on a Harley this weekend. It was the most satifying and enjoyable thing I've ever done that I got paid for. I'm 32 and I can't help regretting I hadn't started sooner like when I was 18!

Any way, enough about me, haha, what I would do if I was you is research the internet and find out what other peole like. There is a lot of useful info out there! another thing, don't buy your airbrush or compressor from your local paint shop. They'll rip you off! haha I got a Paashe with 2 tips a copule bottles, and such for $49 online! At my local Southern Paint Supply they wanted $90 for exactly the same thing! also I bought a small Cambell Hausfeld compressor for $100. They wanted $250 for an Paashe compressor and it wasted near the size as mine! Mind you mine is the smallest compressor I beleive they make. You can get it at Wal-mart!

As far as spray equipment, I use turbine spray guns which are HVLP, however, you probably won't ever see anything like what I use! They are very popular in my line of work and work great for what I use them for. Most body shops, use compressor type spray equipment, even if they are HVLP!

I hope this all helped and I wish you the best! Don't make the mistake I made and wait until your 32! haha
