atomization?

I am assuming that atomization is the size the little fragments of paint/clear are when they are spit out of you gun.

If the "atoms" are big, they will leave orange peal. To cure this you would need to reduce the mixture, correct?
What about the air pressure? What pressure would i want to work w/ if i have big atoms? Would I increase or decrease pressure?

Usually fan(air)all the way open then, start opening your fluid until it's where you want it.Air pressure at the regulator has alot to do with it also.

Increasing your air pressure and cutting back on the fluid help within the limits of the gun's setup. If that doesn't break it up enough you'll have to go to a smaller fluid tip.Proper reducer selection is critical too so the paint has a chance to flow before it starts flashing off.
