Auto Air Depth

Hi guys

they are really starting to push the Autoair range in the Uk at the moment and they have advised that Auto Air now has the same depth as urethanes...... is this right or just a sales pitch !!

I'll be painting a gas tank later in the week and I'm going to need colours that have some real depth to them so its either HOK or Autoair. If they are right thats great as Autoair is easier to get hold of.

Createx is redoing the Auto Air line and it is supposed to be pretty close to a urethane paint. I am waiting for my samples and it is not available around me yet. The people I talked to said it is a lot better than the original Auto Air.

So how did the AutoAir work out as I am doing a PWC (personal water craft & was thinking about using the AutAir on the graphics after shooting with regular urethane base?

Did you shoot them in an airbrush or regular gun. I tried to use them the othernight and never could get them to work correctly. I tried shooting them on a helmet. The paint would go on then bunch up. It was like it was not adhereing and would just pool all over. I tried all kinds of air pressures etc. I thought maybe I had it too thin, however, if I thickened it up it would not flow through my Iwatas. How are you using it and are you thinning it at all?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I have completed a tank and a helmet with Auto Air and have had no problems shot with both an airbrush and a gun.

I followed this routine -
degreased parts, sanded, cleaned again, primer, sanded, cleaned, base coat with catalyst, then thin coats of colour which I dried with a hot air gun. worked great ..

from what I have read you have to heat treat each coat before applying the next
