basecoat/clearcoat

just finished a black base coat and before i clear it i have acouple of small spots a run and i think a small bug that i want to wet sand out what is the procedure for this as far as applying the clear wait for the base coat to dry i did it yesterday an d plan on wetsanding today is it okay to then apply the clearcoat after 24/48 hrs? or do i need to do something to scuff the entire surface again,etc,etc don't want to have problems later with the clearcoat application

If I have something in the base I don't like,I'll wet or dry sand it,use wax and grease remover again,then put another light or "dust" coat,then clear.
When clearing base,24hrs is ok but,IMO,48 is pushing the limits of still being able to get a chemical bond.Jim

I'm going to have to agree with Jim on this one, depending on the manufacturer of the paint.....isn't there a specified "flash" time usually suggested on the product data sheet which if not followed your F'd and-up-a-creek?

most bases should be applied within 24 hour if its not then you will have to lightly sand/scuff the surface to assure proper adhesion
