hey eveyone, After spraying the base how long can I wait before sparying the interclear? I ask because the bc/cc system is new to me and my vehicle is ready for base but I will be gone away for a while before I can finish. Should I wait on the whole project till I get back? I plan on doing Black bc, then a mid coat of clear and old school style flame job. Any and all tips apreciated, thanks in advance.

How long is a while?

I've let paint sit for a week and then hit it again but I don't know if it's the greatest idea. If it's any longer then a week probaby just say wait till your back.

Should really spray some type of adhesion promoter over the base before respraying any other basecoat, interclear, or regular clear. Especially if you wait 3 weeks to spray over the base.

I believe there is a window of about 24 hours before you HAVE to coat the base with something. If you don't spray an adhesion promoter, you could possibly have a delamination problem.

so it would be alright for the flame job to wait the 3 weeks as long as I spray a clear over the basecoat with in say 24hrs.? :think1:

That would probably be your best bet. Just go ahead and clear. Then resand it (1000 grit wet) when you get ready to do the rest of the work.

makes sense to me, but rather than risk it and have it go wrong and have to redo it all, i think i'll wait, considering its awful damp up here right now, the base may not cure in time for me. Thanks for the advice like I said I'm used to a single stage system but by far not a proffessional and I useually let it sit awhile before doing anything over it. Thanks again. Any and all tips welcome.

Okay...probably very coldand damp up there (better you than me) I'm down here in Tampa, FL area---> High of 81 today....bbbrrrrrr :haha:

Since you're used to single stage paints, the clear shouldn't be too big of a deal to you.Good luck! Show us some pics when you you get done!:pics:
