I just need to know what a few terms that I have heard mean. What does it mean when you allow the paint time to "FLASH" between coats. I was watching a HOK video and the guy said make sure you allow the paint to flash between coats. Also, what is meant by when you are applying clear to apply a "WET" coat as compared to a coat that is not. The guy said that after the first layer of clear is applied, the next two should be applied as wet coats. I don't know if these are techniques in applying paints or if the paints have to be reduced different to do this. I have never painted before and I have no idea what these terms mean. I have been practicing all winter with spray bombs on taping and laying out flames so I will soon get real paint. Thanks

Flash time is the time between coats you walk away so some of the solvents evaporate and the last coat partiailly dries. If you try laying enough paint on in one shot it'll run so you layer it up in coats. There's also a flash time between products, like between sealer, base and clear.

A wet coat is like it says, put a coat on so it's wet and the surface looks wet and flows out smooth.A dry coat will look dry with a grainy texture. Most paints are applied as a wet coat but I think HOK still uses the tack or medium wet coat on the first coat of clear.
