Best Clear Coat for the Front of the Car?....

Hello, first off, let me say that I tried to search for topics of this nature and failed at it (well, I kinda got side-tracked reading about other things for a few hours)

so if there is a place where this is answered, I submit to my flogging...
:bigokay:

ok, my question, I am looking for a good clear-coat...

but I have no clue where to start, I know that you guys here are the all-knowing-guru's of all things exterior, so maybe you can at least point me in the right direction...

The clear coat I am looking for is going over paint and on headlights- so that means it needs to hold up well to every day driving... and I know, I know- thats asking a lot, but I don't want something that will come back and bite me in the bum a few weeks later...

so yeah, sorry for the long post- just trying to get my point across

(and mods, if this is the wrong place to post this, please feel free to move it.)

most clears will work.hok.chroma clear(3m),auto clear(sikkens) etc.what you nead is a little flex addative.i use sikkens products in my shop but i'm sure they all have it.you mix it in the clear and spray as usual.it realy protects the car from stone chips and sand blast.just call your supplier and they should have it .ask for a tech sheet so you know the right mix for your particular product.good luck.cyas

ok- awesome... and by flex additive, you mean making the clear coat softer?..

and it will retain its crystal clear transparency- right?...

gotcha...

so then I am good with any clear I get, just as long as it has that flex stuff- right?...

and what about the clear itself... any specific brands look/ work better?...

it's been posted on here somewhere that the new clears are so flexable that hardly anyone uses flexagents any more. the ployurethane clear is a plastic.

i use house of color uc35. it is very strong and flexable. chips happen dude and no matter what you do, it's pretty much a given (if you drive your vehicle) you'll get chips.

stick w/ a good system.

hok, dupont, martin senior. the stuff expensive, but good. i've heard that nason's clear is pretty good (dupons cheeper brand) and i've also heard that crossfire has a good clear (martin senior's cheaper stuff)

???? so it's kinda like the oil thing. some people like some brands and other like others, but there is some crap out there. if you haven't heard of it, don't use it.

so chips happen sometimes (isn't that a song?) he he!
