are there any tricks or does anyone have any pointers on spraying bike frames im using basecoat clearcoat and i do just fine with all the other parts but these frames are just a plain pain. Im sure single step would be a little easier, but there has to be some tricks out there thanks

No, I found out that single stage is the easiest. Now remember the frame was black. I did a b/c and it was more of a pain because I didn't enjoy laying on the floor too much. The one thing I realized was hang them higher!! So you don't have to lay on floor. Was alot more comfortable to spray. Haven't done a candy one yet but am also not looking forward to that day.
I also had to adjust my gun to a round spray to
get into some of the areas, just make sure you triple check your coverage. If you don't see it the customer will!
Good luck,
Dirt

Try working each angle that you spray at the same time for the entire frame.
it is much easier to keep the gun focused at one angle than twisting and turning for every beam.
For example spray the left hand side all at once then underside then right etc.

Hey,welcome Steve.I've missed alot this week because a painter quit and I've been moving from the bodyshop to the paint side, man I have too much stuff.

There is an easy way to do it,give it to someone else to do

Basically they suck no matter what.I like to hang stuff like this so the top is eye level and I have to stand on a pail to see the top,it makes doing the lower end easier and spraying down the backbone blind isn't a big deal-and most or all of it's hidden on all but Customs.I just cut my fan down to about 3" and cut way back on the fluid. If you're playing with 3stage pearls and candys you might want to do a test panel first to make sure of the amount of coats give the same effect of the sheetmetal,or viceversa. If you haven't painted tubing before just start out easy and watch the joints for excessive buildup.Better to put it on a touch thin and need to layer up a wet coat than blast it on and get drips.Shaunboy's way of painting the same side of everything works very good and helps eliminate buildup in the joints, but sometimes I just do a tube at a time.Actually here's a tip which I'm sure you know if you've painted before. When you get in those tight joints like the back of the neck just feather the trigger and build it up slowly like I said before and if you're using a toploader use the cup baggies, you can spray upside down much longer without the gun spitting or dripping out the vent on you.

You can also make a piece to go into the neck where the front end forks go and then have a sleeve that will slip up into a engine stand. With this you can turn it 360 degrees. plus with the wheels on the engine stand it is mobile. No engine stand you can also use a bench vise.
