Black Harley Primer

Seems like the primers are the weak link in my paint work. I have tested acrylic, urethane and epoxy primers and gasoline will lift (wick) through all of them. I did notice on a recent test with a sanded through factory paint job that the gasoline did not affect that black primer. I figured it's a PPG product but haven't found anyone who knows. The factory job was black primer, base color then clearcoat. I didn't see any surfacer or sealer just those three. Just wondering... TC

It's hard to beat the factory e-coat,the stuff is good.In the refinishing side we have to play with all the extra crap and it is the weak link when it comes to problems.

The stuff that Harley uses is called an "E-Coat" - at least thats what my PPG supplier told me - I've painted lots of Harley e coated stuff - I just wet sand it down and start shooting - I love when people spend the extra money on the good stuff -- requires no body work at all -- and that E-Coat is super hard stuff -- Not sure who makes it --- Peace Bones!~
