Black with a suttle hint of red

I've just got a spare grill for my car and got it in primer so i'm trying out an idea on it and wanted to see how I could get the desired look.

I want it a full black, but with a suttle dark red in there, so in certain lights or angles you can see the red, but to look at it it would still look black.

Thanks in advance :freak:

We recently had a post like this. You may want to do a 'search' or check out 'similar' threads below this thread.

How I would do it is spray some black metallic (very little metallic in the black). And then spray a few coats of candy red over it.
This should give you the desired look (black out of the sun, but a dark candy red in the sun)
Good luck!

that's what I was thinking as well, but I found some red metalic paint as well, so I was debaiting which would work best. Cheers, i'll check out the other threads :yesnod01:

I think you would be better to go the the red candy as Taz suggested. I think the metalic red would over power the black and kill the effect you want. Probably would end up looking muddy You could add a tiny amount of red pearl to the candy red to. That would give the black a little glow when the light hits it. But do a panel first,to see what you get.
