Blister HELP!!!!!

I need some serious help. I was just informed that a blister has formed under the paint on a bike I finished about 6 mos. ago. It is around the opening of the gas cap. The tank was bare metal when I got it. I followed instructions for degreasing and prepping from several board members. I used Sherman Williams Paint w/ Base Coat Stabelizer. I don't know if it is the primer or the Base Coat. Fortunately, the very detailed mural work was not affected (yet). How can I prevent it from getting worse and how do I fix the problem without having to take off the tank again.

No I didn't seal it. What should I have done?
I had told the customer to buy a tank protector for the the opening. Would that have helped?

Sounds like the fuel vapors have worked their way underneith the edge of your paint job.

Right after I am done with a job, I brush a coat of catalyzed clear around the edges of the bung and the paint edge. I leave about 1/8" of bare metal. This will *help* the vapors from going directly to your paint. They will need to get through the clear first.

Just a little insurance.

Quite a few posts on this have been added in the past on what to do with the filler or bung area once you're done with a paint job. You can probably do a "Search" on one or both of the above.

Those protectors won't cure anything but chipping the edge of the paint from being careless either. After you sand the spot back to where it's still sticking and spot it in,clear the whole thing and seal the edges like Scott said.Do all of them too,the petcock bung, crossovers, anywhere gas or fumes will meet the paint edge.

I dont know how, but someone with a good imagination explain to me where the best area to put the tape line is. I usually put mine about 1/16 to 1/8" below the very top inside edge. I have also heard that JB Weld seals that edge nicely. Anyone else place their edge somewhere differently? Thanks in advance.
