Bondo

Is use of Bondo Ok? I've been using "Ultimate Bondo" which is a blue green color, twice as expensive and seems fine. But, Rex had mentioned a list of good bondos but, I couldn't find any of them when shopping today so, I settled on what I normally use. I think I use a very good glazing putty which is Evercoat 400.

Thanks

The Evercoat putty is good stuff, but that's the can stuff isn't it?I prefer the stuff in the tube because it lasts a little longer but it's no biggie.I haven't heard of the mud you got but if you've used it and it's not cheap stuff off the top of my head I'd have to say it's good.for the most part mud is priced pretty close to the quality of it.Using mud isn't a bad thing, especially if it's rude steel like Custom Chrome(at least 99% of it).Get it smooth with that and skimcoat it with the putty,it doesn't suck up the primer as bad and leaves a much nicer finish than mud job.

I used the Evercoat and Everglaze in a squeezable quart container,About 21 a quart from the paint jobber.Worked great,I like it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/agree.gif

Yeah man, that's good stuff /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bigokay.gifI like that better than the stuff we're using packaged in Wurth's name, this stuff seems to want to pinhole easy.

Thanks Rex and Jim for the responses. But, I know evercoat is good stuff. I'm wondering about the "Ultimate Bondo". Is it any good?? Maybe Rex's last post said it was but, he could also be refering to Evercoat.

Dave,I never heard of it and never used it,sorry.Once I used Evercoat,I never looked for anything else,It sands soooooo nice. The old bondo was used for years and years,as long as it was applied correctly,it worked fine so I would think the newer stuff would be better..Just mix and apply per directions,Like the evercoat,if you have to build it ,go in thin layers.Don't over or under mix the hardener. Sorry Dave for the confusion.I haven't heard of it but if it's pricey it is most likely good bondo. You can even drop down to the mid priced stuff and be perfectly fine when you use up that.Like Jim said,If you don't plow it on all but the elcheapo stuff works good, but there is some reassurance using the best.
