Hoping this in the correct section....

This is my project car for the next two years i would appreciate some tips on panel beating/welding and painting.
My plan is to strip the whole car down to the chassis, paint chassis, get all rust repair done, spray cabin/boot and sound proof, then exterior re-spray,engine back in, then start on the interior and hopefully when the interior is complete the car will be done at that stage.

Name:Nathan

Age: 17

Model:1976 HJ Belmont

Colour:Orange

Engine Type:202

Engine Mods Stock.

Exhaust Standard.

Gearbox:3 on the tree, manual.

Diff: Standard.

Wheels: Stockies.

Interior: Seats and thats it lol

Exterior: Stock,Re-sprayed (orange)

Stereo:n/a

Future Plans:
For paint and body work seeing as its a strictly paint forum ill leave the plans for the paint ect and not bore you of other details
Respray car in orange
Rust proof inside of cabin and boot with KBS Rust seal or POR15
Spray chassis black
Rust repair - The biggest factor...

This is what was done with it before i got it

Looks like a cool car!!! For 17, that this quite project to tackle. So in the last pic, is that 'after' you painted it, or is this how you got it and before you started?

Hey taz thanks for the reply, should be an interesting project. That was the paint when i purchased it, plain 2 pack orange.

I was going to recommend to get a digital camera and take lots of pics before you take things apart . Being your 17 and don't have years of experiance , you may have some problems putting it together .Hell I have been doing it to many years and I need to take pictures on long term restos . Welcome aboard and don't be afraid to ask questions .

Lookin' good so far. Guess you have the front half left to paint?

If you are talking about the shell (outside of the car) and you still plan on brushing the paint, I would think either 180 DA or 320 wetsanding it would be fine.

Not for sure why your shelf came out glossy. Possibly because it was a gloss paint (there was no flattening agent in it)?
