Brushed finish

I was out and saw something this morning that made me say WOW...... Has anyone, and please keep in mind I do not do this for a living, used a brush to apply an auto paint?

I ask as when I was out this morning, I saw someone that had worked some copper into a panel/plaque and gave it a brushed finish. Since I am painting my bike a copper metallic, I want to give it a brushed look. Is this possible? Should I reduce the amount of thinner/reducer I put in the paint? I am using the DuPont Hot Hues copper and it states to mix it 1:1 to activate it. Can I use less reducer to keep the paint a little thick to get the affect I want?

If you would like something with a more realistic 'copper' look to it, you may want to check this out. I know this is not the brushed look out of the gun, but possibly if you sprayed it, then took a very fine brush, you might end up with that effect you are looking for.

molten copper

here's something you may try. I have used it and it works very well. It's called molten copper and is just like the chrome paint thats out there and applied in the same way. You can get it at Innate and manufactured by Moto Storm. Hope I don't get a scolding from Scott for this. Once you get the copper on just drag a scotchbrite pad over it and you end up with your brushed copper look. These photos have not had the scotchbrit treatment but you can certainly see the color value of the copper. Hope this will help you.

Thanks, that is really close to what I was looking for. I tried with a brush, but the paint seems to no want to cooperate.

red scotch bright

i use black base, then spray silver over it, then go over the silver w/ red scotchbright, and it gives a brushed metalic look.
