Mack or Xcaliber, you can get them from coast airbush, or any other art/airbrush supplier. They cost around $10 I think. A sward striper 00 works best for general srriping/ outlining.

you guys are the best!!!! Are you using a particular brand of pinstriping paint? I wil be clearing over all my striping, but I would still like to have a catylized system for striping. I guess I could use HOK striping paint, or a single stage paint from say PPG????

I wouldn't use a single stage paint because it won't be the right consistency for striping. If you want to use a catalyzed paint and clear over it, I would use either HOK or X-Otic pinstriping paints - they are both good.

That being said, the majority of stripers out there still use one-shot which works very well. You do have to be careful when you use a catalyzed clear over on-shot though or you can just melt it all off.

Also, go for the xcaliber brushes - they are worth the money!

I've been told to use the same hardner in my striping paint that will be in the clear that goes over it.That way the clear wont lift the stripes. Any one else ever hear this?

If you use HoK Striping paint there's a catalyst for them

You can also add a drop of the Clear Coat catalyst in the striping reducer you're using while you stripe. It does help to avoid probs.
HoK says you do not need catalyst in their paint unless it will be sitting on some top coat. I personal like that insurance of a drop in my reducer!

BE SURE TO REALLY CLEAN YOUR STRIPING BRUSH IN SOME CLEAN REDUCER AFTER USE!!!

The last flame job I did, we outlined the flames with one shot and added the same hardner used in the clear. Worked out pretty good, but we did have a couple small spots start to pucker. Wetsanded and buffed afterwards and they disappeared.
