buffing compound on rubber

First of all I'd like to thank Tazz for all his help, the paint job on my truck turned out great. I've painted in the past, but the B/C was a whole different monster, and alot more work, but the end result was worth it. Now I have another question, magin that!!:sillyme: I've read through the first 27 pages and haven't found anything about this. I What does everyone use to get the buffing compound off all the rubber gasket material around the windows, doors, and plastic mirror trim. I've tried water, acitone, laquar thinner, and a small brush on a dremmel. Noting seems to work. Any help would be great.

Glad I (and the forum) have helped you out.

As far as the compound, it should wash right off with some good soapy water and a nice pressure wash job.
Maybe you left it on quite awhile and it's on there "good". If so, you might want to try a detail brush and some good spray detailer or some Simple Green.
Hopefully that helps you out.
I would try the soapy water first though. Use a good wash mitt with very soapy water.

Hmmm strange it won't come off. But try what was suggested, Failing that Mothers has a product called back to black.

:haha:

What I used to use at the Ford dealership when I got some compound on the textured door handles on the mid 90's Explorers is spray some flat black spray can on a rag, then blot the rag with paint onto the door handle.
Good as new!
