buffing out clearcoat

I had some minor orange peeling after painting my truck with PPG b/c. I sanded with 1000 grit wet sand, it sanded out really smooth, then used some 3m super duty rubbing compound it seemed a little aggressive, but seemed ok, then 3m 06085, with a 3m 057111 wool pad. It still doesn't shine like I think it should, it has a milky look to it.
Should I use the perfect it 111, as a finish or continue with 6085 and can I use this pad or what would you do? I've talked to a couple shops and they both have drastically different methods of buffing out clear.
There is 3 coats of clear, but I don't want to burn through.
Thank you Jim

1000 grit scratches are pretty tough to get out.
Since you had 'minor' orange peel, you should have started with 15000, and then went over it with some 2000. This would have been much easier to get 2000 scratches versus the 1000 grit.
Then the 6085 and a white 'foam' pad (5723) would have been plenty to take out.

Not for sure how much material you have left or how dull the paint still is, but you might want to try taking some 1500 over it, then buff. At least try a panel and see if that speeds up and helps the buff process.

I think if you keep on buffing, you'll end up using alot of compound plus you'll never get all the 1000 grit scratches without spending a ton of time on it.
