Burnt orange

When I get ready to do my bike, I want a burnt orange color very similar to job 103 (the one that's in the upper right corner of the screen right now). Am I right in thinking this is Kandy Brandywine over a gold base coat?

I'm also thinking of ghost flames in a slightly darker shade of that color. Should I shoot the gold base, then black flames, then the kandy? Or should I use a different color for the flames? I want just a slightly darker shade of the orange. Could I darken the gold, maybe?

I believe that is candy Tangerine. just add a couple of drops of black to the gold for the flames, and that should put you in the right direction. do some test panels until you get the combo you really want.

You sure don't want to paint that baby something like... Oh I don't know, maybe Maroon and White.

Just kidding.

It sounds like you have some very cool ideas with the darker orange flames over the base orange.

EZ, you're right. I meant Tangerine, not Brandywine. Adding some black to the gold base sounds like the way to go. I want the flames real subtle and that should do the trick. Test panels will tell the tale.

As for the burnt orange, Taylor, it's not really a UT thing. More that I think the color looks great. Very eye catching without being obnoxious. However, the only way my bike will get maroon on it is when I scrape a knuckle and bleed on it!

Where are you in Austin and what are you riding? Could always use another riding buddy.

Give me a call or come out and see me. You got my number. The next bike that I am painting is a burnt orange HOK kandy base coat system. And I have already used the paint so, I know its good. Geeze.... the things I learned on the last bike. But, its gone and the customer loved it. Anyways, the kandy tangerine is a very cool looking color and you may want to use it.

And Taylor...... I need a web page?? Got space and need to use it!!

Dave, can't find your contact info. You still got mine? If so, get a hold of me. I'd love to hang out while you did the burnt orange job. I'm about ready to take the plunge and set up a make shift shop down south here to do my bike.
