Hello everyone I'm new to the forum and will be learning how to paint my car within the next few days. This forum has a lot of learning info which is great for a starter. I'm planing on painting it a Satin Black but was told by finishmaster to use a base coat black and a flat clear.

My question is I have this paint gun from about 3-5 years ago. It's a craftman model 919.155350 and was wondering if I can use this gun for the job?? The manuel doesn't tell me what size spray tip it is. I was told I need a 1.3mm for the paint and clear and a 1.6mm for the poly. Any info was be greatly help. Thanks in advance.

well for one, your taking on black for a first paint job. black is easy to see go on but showssssssss everything. you can use any gun as long as it works, but test your patern:bigokay: that will tell you alot about the gun.

Laquer maybe? what we do when someone wants semi gloss black(satin?) spray it with a black sealer then use a semi gloss clear. I'll try to find out what brand clear it is.
