I'm painting a set of saddle bags a mettalic Blue/silver. They are an existing acryllic black. I'm using automotive paint put into a spray can from the local auto body supply shop. Can I wetsand the colour coat before I clear coat?

Thanks

im sorta lost by what you are asking but i think you meen that if you spray the base and dont want to spray the clear for another day or so then you can scuff the base with 800grit but other then that i wouldnt see why you would sand the basecoat

i wouldn't wet sand a metalic before i clearcoated. it'll screw up the flow of the paint. you can sand it, then shoot a light coat of basecoat again to even out the color then clearcoat.

I agree with Hoss. Just spray the base flat as possible, then spray the clear over that. No sanding between the base and the clear
