Acaballe,

Actually, a tri-stage candy is not too hard, and does not take that much time ONLY if you are a pretty good painter.

Basically you just need to spray the metallic color of your choice, then spray a tinted clearcoat (candy) over the metallic, then clear.
You could do a car in less than a day.

I have How-To section which shows a custom paint job I match in candy red. This shows the basecoat, graphics, and the candy and clearcoat stages. This will give you a good idea of how 'candy' works.

I also just completed a two-tone trike body in candy which I will add to the How-To section later this week. I will have about 8 pics of this process along with details.

I painted the 3-toned candy trike body inc. candy pinstripe in <3 hours.

If interested in accessing the 'How-To' section, go to your user CP, look on the left hand links bar and you will see 'paid subscriptions'.
You will not see this section or unless you subscribe to this. There is also info on this on a What's New post.

Enjoy the forum!

If you'd like to keep the price down and have a similar effect, there's House of Kolor's Kandy Base coats. I'm in the process of doing a bagger in Kandy Apple Red Kandy base coat and it's a life saver so far since it's so many parts to do.Besides that, the color is awesome.

It depends on how fast you want the color to come on. What I did was kept adding candy concentrate to sg 100 until it started to change the color I was spraying on. I understand if you add to much you can have a bleed thru problem.

hey, as far as im aware, you can mix concentrates between 5-20% of your SG100, any more starts to discolour and can make the job patchy! thats what i learnt from house of kolor here in the uk!:bigokay:
