Candy over Bare metal....Help!

I have seen several flame jobs were the flames were nothing more than bare metal showing all the swirl marks from sanding and then a Candy sprayed over the bare metal. This is a very nice effect but how does the Candy adhere to bare metal. I have asked around but no one seems to know. Are they using an etching additive or something in the Candy coat?

I'm not sure how it works, but I do know that harley davidson has a bike out that they did that type of paint on, so maybe that can help. I think they just spray the kandy over the bare metal then clear it, but I'm not possitive.

I thought there was another thread on here about that. If I recall they were using a torch to heat the moisture out of the metal. Basically clean, heat, clean, heat then right to UV clear. Don't warp the metal, just get the moisture out of it. A colorless etch primer was also a possibility.
