Clean tape lines

Man this site kicks major butt. On the project I'm working on I've got a long straight line where two colors meet and then there is a black accent stripe. I'm using single stage urethane but I'm going to clear over it. I used 3M fine line tape. BUT, I 've got a case of the fuzzies. It bled under in some spots. Can someone clue me into how to get perfectly clean tape lines.

Should I shoot clear over the tape before I shoot the offseting color? If so, how long do I wait for the clear to set up before I shoot the actual color?

Once I am done shooting the color, how long do I wait until I pull the tape off?

Is there a cool way to fix where the paint bled under the tape and still keep a straight line?

Any advice on how to butt two colors against each other?

Many MANY thanks in advance.

Im sure someone will chime in and help you out. One lesson I learned was NOT to put the tape on the ground. Its picks up junk on the side then when you lay down your color it comes through the tape. If you want some insurance clear your first base then scuff and lay down your second color. This way if you screw up you can touch it up.

I take it (by assumption) you're playing with solid colors I hope. What you can do is get it all scuffed and sanded for clear and then retape the line on the good side and come back in with a little color and reblow the edge to tighten it up.Let it flash, untape it and clear the whole thing.
