cleaner and degreaser

I don't have access to any paint store and need a cleaner before I paint tomorrow. Is there any off the shelf cleaner that works after sanding to remove debris and oils? We have the standard Walmart and auto supply stores nearby but nothing else (small town). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The primary ingredient in the solvent based pre-cleaner I've been using is VM&P Naptha. You should be able to find this in the paint dept at Wal-mart, Lowe's, Home Depot, True Value Hdwe, etc. When I was a kid, I used clear rubbing alcohol then followed with a good wash with soapy (dishwashing liquid like Dawn) water and rinse thoroughly. Remember to use clean rags, or disposable towels, and change them often to keep from re-contaminating the surface.
