Cleaning every nook and cranny

I have a set of FLH Tanks and hinged fender that I'm painting for a customer. My question is....... what is the best way of cleaning a fender that has allot of layered metal riveted on (Hing, tail light support, etc) . Its seems that there is allot of Crud sandwiched between the metal. I have went as far as to use dental picks to try to scrape all the dirt, grease and such from the nooks and cranny's.

Is there a better way....Let me know how you do it.

Pressure washer maybe ????

Thanks

One tool i have found that seems to work the best is your old tooth brush the softer th better , also lately I have hade good luck with the battery powered toothbrushes about 6-8 bucks the ones that spin. that and a little wax and grease remover and you should be cleaned up and dirt free. it also saves a lot of time getting allthe gunk between wetsanding

good luck.

OSHA won't like this but an air blower made out of a male and female fittings screwed together with line pressure and water are great. As you procede with the job hit those areas every time you blow it off-without the water if you're not using any.Wear glasses too, dirt at 120+ psi can tend to imbed in the lense of your eye.If you've never had your eyeball touched with a drillbit cranking 30k rpm to remove it it's a very freaky ordeal.

I work in a sand foundry so the drill to the eye is pretty common for me. Then you get to have the cool flourescent dye put in so they can check for scratches. I go through it at least two or three times a year. No matter what type of glasses I use the crap finds a way in.

I got so used to the sand getting in my eyes that i had a piece in and diddn't even know until I went for a regular eye exam.
I only got the lens twice the rest of the time it was on the white part. either way sucks.
