cleaning up the edges

can someone tell me, what is the best way to clean up the edges after I shoot the flames and before I clear coat

sometimes what i use is those really small hobbie paint brushes for fixing the edges of graphics. just be careful to not spend too much time on one spot.they're like tiny Q tips.
