Has anyone cleared over lettering made out of stainless steel tape? I found some in jc whitney, It comes in different sizes.. My plan was to put a stripe down the middle about 2 inches wide and the lettering on the side.. I dont want the clear to peal off.. any ideas or sugg. would be great!! Or does anyone know of there is something else I can use??

I'm not exzacly sure about the stainless steel stripe your talking about, but i have used the vinal decals that look like chrome and i have also used the vinal with the brushed aluminam look. i have never had any trouble with clearcoating over any of these. The main thing to remember is to be sure to give your basecoat plenty of time to flash before you install your decale. If you put it on to soon it will bubble up on you even after you clearcoat becaus the solvints from the base coat are still trying to release. Also i always spray a very light coat of adheasion promoter on my decales before i start clearcoating just to be on the safe side, and dont put your first coat of clear on to heavy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/luck.gif

Try clearing over your basecoat and let cure then scuff and apply the vinyl strip. It's an extra step, but it ensures you wont have a problem.
