Hi Guys,Just wondering if anybody has had an experiene with the Nason paint products.Apparently their clears are on the lower end of the Dupont line.Use to use 7500s,but it is not available anymore. What do you suggest. Most of my painting is on helmets, not big jobs.

I use to use Nason and Dupont products. The Nason clear flows out nice and seems alright. It seems fairly thin and easy to sand or buff through. I believe it was 7600 series I used more and some 7500S. To me 7600 was a good clear and it cured in a couple hours. It's a hard clear and wetsanding/buffing it was alright. 7500s I always got solvent pops...drove me nuts.

I switched to UC-35 HoK and sprayed it over Dupont paints all the time. HoK was cheaper where I purchased paints & did all the things I wanted a clear coat to do.

I did hear that Dupont was phasing out some of their clear products.

If that's the same 7500 that was around about 15 years ago I liked it.The 7600 was too fast and brittle and the 7800 was too thick for the majority of gun setups at the time. That was the only clear I liked in the line but it was more of a low solids like the old PPG we used.Stuff laid out like glass without even trying, same with the old Glasurit 54line clear. You could litterally rely on muscle memory and not pay attenion to what you're doing and it was slick as a baby's butt (with no pimples or diape rash of course).

Yeah...7500 lays down slick and like glass, but I always seemed to get too heavy with it and cause it to solvent pop.

I lay down UC-35 down heavy (following the spray directions of course) and seldom get a solvent pop.

Out of all the Dupont clears I thought 7500 had the best shine. There was a higher quality Dupont clear, but it was nearly twice the price. I never had any brittle issues with 7600, but heard the horror stories about rapid curing clears. I also heard 7600 was best for smaller jobs.
