Check out this forum topic on "cob webbing" it might explain how you get that effect. Look on the bright side people used to pay money for that effect. How old was the clear? Was it a previously opened container? What type urethane, lacquer. What brand? Did it sit for a while before you shot? Any details you can give would help. Hang in there clear coating is one of the hardest parts of the job.

THX FOR YOUR TIME I REALY APPRECIATE IT. LET'S SEE IF I CAN ANSWER YOU QUESTIONS...I USE DUPONT CLEAR COAT #380 S. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW SO IT WASN'T OLD OR EVER OPENED. I USED DUPONT 3602 S ACRILIC LAQUER THINNER WITH IT. I DON'T THINK IT SAT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES BEFORE I SHOT IT. I HAD NO ONE TO TEACH ME HOW TO MIX IT BUT I THINK I DID IT RIGHT IT SAID TO MIX IT THIN 380 S 200% (2 TO 1) WITH 3602S.40-45LBS FOR OVERALL REFINISHING. ANY HOW I'M READY TO TRY IT ALL OVER AGAIN HOPEFULLY WITH A BETTER RESULT. I'LL CHECK OUT THAT FORUM ABOUT COB-WEBBING AND SEE IF IT HELPS ANY. AGAIN THANX FOR HELPING A TRULY ENTHUSIASTIC BEGINNER.

I never have used the Dupont clear system so I'm not sure how helpful I will be. Hopefully some one that reads this will know more about the product. You said you mixed it 200% 2 to 1. I just want to make sure you are saying that you mixed 2 parts clear to one part reducer. That is a common mixture but it is a 50% reduction. If the normal reduction is 50% and it was reduced 200% the clear would be real thin. I don’t know the tech specs on the clear so I’m going off what you had said.

I think what you did was reduce it 50% which would spiderweb.200% reduction is typical to lacquer which means a qt of clear needs 2qts or reducer to thin it or 1-2.Some are 150% so that would be 1-1.5.I don't know what the temp range of the 3602 is but if it was correct for the temp you were spraying in give it a week or 2 to through dry.Wetsand it down with 600 or 800 nice and flat without breaking through and lay a few more on reduced right. How many coats did you use? Each coat was probably equal to 3 or 4 so I'd let it sit a day for each 'real' coat.Lacquer is good about eating in so I doubt you'll have an adhesion problem as long as that dries before going farther.
