Clear turning yellow...

I just painted a Ducati GMC Metallic Silver and it came out fine but upon delivery to the dealer I was told that it had a yellowish cast to it. This was under fluoresent lighting... outside in direct sunlit he was happy. Is the culprit just the lights or am I missing something here. I have noticed a lot of questions popping up about clear lately... is this just the heat of Central Texas effecting my clear.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated... I have a lot of jobs backing up and don't want to have any do-overs!

What code did you paint the parts? It probably is not the clear.
I know some silvers naturally have a yellowish (milkish) cast to them. A couple of the GM colors are WA519F and also WA9566. Then of course out in the sun, the metallic overpowers the yellow cast, so you don't see it.
Most likely this is the culprit.

I posted a concern about clear turning milky or yellow awhile back and never got a response. Although, mine was specific to Matrix clear which most folks haven't heard of I guess. Taylor, I also live here in Austin and worry about my garentee with the Texas heat.

BTW..... Taylor.... email me sometime if you feel like talking off line about local stuff. Scott??? Can you send him my email so that I don't screw up and post it. Been a little slow this summer but, worked picked up a bit. Painting a V-Star for a Sheriff with flaming Deer Skulls of all things.

I think Scott pinned this one.If you open the clear can and it doesn't look yellowish it's not the clear-at least it's very unlikely if you aren't overusing accelerators, and they usually yellow around edges and stuff where the clear flows to and builds up.You'd notice this real fast.

Man do I type slow or what?Joe and I were thinking along the same lines but I didn't really think you were using the stuff. Our climates are close but I do still use the stuff at times.

Scott you hit it right on the head... I was in the booth painting and it came to me that I had used a silver with a bit of a brown tint to it... this guy just saw it as yellow. The code was 1C0 - a Toyota color.

Thank you for everyone's response... and Thank you Scott for Daves e-mail.

Later,
Taylor
