Clear

I need another question answered please. I'm using SEM (2K) brand color concentrate. It's a color concentrate that is mixed with what is referred to as a "solvent base clear". I will be shooting a clear over my base, that I can scuff, so I can take my time on my artwork. My question is, can I just shoot the solvent base clear with no color mixed in as my sandable clear? I've heard the term "interclear", but when I mentioned that to the guy at the paint store he looked stumped. That would obviously be cheaper then buying a clear that is intened for the final clear coat.
Thanks,

Solvent based clear is a pretty loose term but means intercoat or topcoat clear,so you can add the SEM to either.I figure they state it that way because it isn't compatible with waterbase paint.Mixed in the intercoat clear it'll be a thinner thickness if that counts, but you'll get more depth out of it in top clear.Just make sure you put one straight coat of clear over the SEM/topcoat clear mix if it's done that way and don't really sand it,nip out any dust nibs with 1500 or so and grey scuffy the rest before the artwork. If you use it in the intercoat clear put down the normal 2 coats of top clear and sand it normally for the artwork.Of course if you're good like alot of these guys you can do your artwork over a coat of straight intercoat clear but I know I'd screw something up and wipe off more than I needed to.
