I just read most everything about the Createx paint in your cool forum, still have a question. I want to put some small graphics on my Honda Shadow bike. I would like to use the Createx paints. I went to a local paint store here and they scared the jeebies out of me about the Urethane clear coats. 1: are there other clear coats that will work with the Createx, one you don't have to mix 2; there was a Sherwin Williams (I think) spary can of clear coat there, will this work. I am going to be doing this in my garage , so while i can hang up plastic sheets to paint in , I don't have a spray booth to do this in.

Any help would be great.
Thank You

OK = THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL VIEW ON CREATEX WITH URETHANES

DON' T DO IT!!!!
If your want a quality job - even if you use createx - you still need a high quality clear to go over it - Many people have successfully painted with createx and urethane clear - but using all urethane will give you better depth and color - and if you have to use a urethane top coat you might as well go the whole way with urethanes - Most paint shops will sell you the "toners" & "Balancing Clear" in small quanities - like 2 or 4 oz. As far as a ready to spray clear - I wouldn't trust it - there's no magic all in 1 - will do everything in a can paint - all of the different systems have their uses and faults - - Learn a little more about what is availible to you and do some test panels first - It may be paint - but we, the artists make what's hard look easy

I agree with BonesFx. Going all the way with urethanes is the best bet for a quality job.
But if your budget allows you to use the Createx or if that's what you really want to use, yes, the spray can clear will work fine. I've used Krylon clear over Createx on a flower pot. No problems at all.
There's basically no depth and the protection isn't the same but hey, it works.
Good luck with what you choose to do,

I know a guy who painted flames on his tank with regular createx (white/yellow/orange) then cleared it with Duplicolor clear engine enamel!

Then he put it in a box with a couple of 100w light bulbs (to bake out solvents) for a few hours (days?). Wet sanded it with 2000 and buffed it. I saw this and believe it or not it looked great. He chose the engine clear because it said it was resistant to chemicals and gasoline. If you have the equipment to shoot some urethane, shoot the urethanes. It takes just as much time and you'll be happier in the long run. Of course, I have a thing about urethanes.

If you have to go with the spray can it will work. Try to find a way to use urethane, even if you have to take it to a shop to have it cleared. You can get very good results with createx but they take some time to figure out. Play with them for a while before shooting your bike.
